Jim Merrill, SPHR- background includes over 35 years of experience as a human resources executive in the private and public sectors. As a human resources and labor relations executive with the U. S Postal Service, he was responsible for addressing 

workplace violence, investigating a number of the tragedies, assessing

potentially violent employees, and designing and implementing systems,

protocols and training to reduce the threat of violence.  

He is the co-author of a book  “When Work Equals Life - The Next Stage of Workplace Violence,” and has written articles on the subject, He has conducted many seminars nationally on Maintaining a Non-Violent Workplace.. He has provided seminars and trained threat assessment teams in organizations including Symantec, United Defense, LP, U.S. Postal Service, Bart, Sony, Office of Personnel Management, FEDEX, IRS, Department of the Army, San Jose State University Professional Development Center, Society for Human Resources Management Chapters, American Society of Industrial Security, and American Management Association.   

In addition, Jim was an Instructor at San Jose State University, Past Adjunct Professor at Cornell University, Past President of SHRM, Santa Clara Valley Chapter of SHRM and a Director on the Area 6 Board of Society of Human Resources Management, and a member of the Advisory Board-San Jose State HR Certification Program. Jim currently is a Labor Arbitrator and serves on several Labor Panels adjudicating Labor Disputes.
